November

Life is good, last week my son Andrew came down from Arizona. He and Bryan put insulation in the outer walls of our home. Some of the walls had no insulation at all. One had a thin Styrofoam liner from a box, in my room the floor had been built up higher than it originally had been built, so there was an opening from the foundation where the cold air was coming through. I'm thankful that my boys were able to do this job otherwise in would have cost us a lot more money than it did. The past winters we have been paying so much for heating bills, I'm sure now we will be warmer and for less. Now its time to get the house back in order, first paint the walls and all that. Thanksgiving was very nice,We had our Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday night so all of our family could be together, It is really nice to have peace in our home, I mean like no yelling and fighting, and arguing. Maybe it comes with growing up.Or maybe we have found out how to love one another. Andrew went home Wednesday morning. My life is good.

preparing for winter

Back to blogging! I've been busy for a while doing things like crochet, canning, sewing Halloween costumes, sewing baby booties, super Saturday, and learning about libraries,How to organize and put books in the proper order. Learning things I never really knew. It has been nice doing volunteer work in a school library. Can you imagine how hard it is to keep a library organized. With all those small children just learning how to use the library moving books here and there. It has been a challenge for me to try to keep up It's a big job.But I enjoy it.

I have crocheted two hats, I followed the
pattern off of the t.v. program Knit and
Crochet today, They said that this particular pattern was popular in New York right now ,and it was a very simple pattern, so I gave it a try. The first hats sections are straight up and down, but when I started the second hat, it started with a twist, and it turned out really cute too.
I've also been canning Apple pie filling, a recipe I obtained from the web. Some of the recipes I have found out for my self have to be tested first because something has been left out. oh well that's OK.
The booties I made were out of old wool skirts, then I lined them with a flannel print.I was hoping that I would be able to help with some Halloween costumes this year , I have made so many in the past years for my grandchildren but this year they decided to buy their own. I did get to sew up one hoodie for a Darth Vader costume and a pinafore for a clown suit. I'm glad that I can help others, by doing this I have been blessed greatly.I'm Thankful for the gifts that I have been given. And most of all I am Thankful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,And for the Atonement of Jesus Christ,For because of these great blessings, I have become a better person.

bunnies-n-more quilt

This is a quilt that I just finished. The art is that of Daisy Kingdom, the pictures are very cute for children. I picked up the book for only one dollar at my very favorite store Deseret Industries. It has 106 pages of iron on transfers, threr are bunnies ,bears, sheep, birds, sunflowers ,and Christmas scenes. I used to make quilts like this alot when I was younger, for my brothers and sisters children. I'm not really sure where this one will go yet. I like to make things for charities,I like to see the smiles people have when they get things they need. It makes me feel good insde, to know that I have helped someone. Anyway here it is:

creations

This is a bird cage I created from a picture that I had in my head. As I walked home from church activites during the winter months there was on open field where there were vines growing freely, so I would take them home and create .I have different wreaths that I have made.

I made this wall quilt at a quilting class that we have at our church. The 4th of July was the theme we were following.

This is the float that I helped to assemble for the 24th of july parade in Salt Lake City ,Utah, it shows all the L.D.S. Temples that we have in the Salt Lake valley.

I made this set of pillows from some fabric that was once something else ,(a bed skirt) I like to reuse what I can when I can.

The apron was a gift I made for a woman that is homebound. It is made of checked fabric. The cheery fabric served it's purpose.

sand castles

Yesterday Aug 13th we -My family and I went on a outing. To a beach down past the ogden area,I had a good day , just being with the grandkids, swimming and building sand castles. My grandson and I were building sandcastles most of the day, it was difficut to keep them standing .everytime a boat would come past the waves would wash away our castles. It was pretty fun. we haven't been able to get together for a long time because of everyones work schedules. We managed to get 3 of us together from our family.
Today my sister and her husband flew in from back east, to visit. she came for our family reunion tomorrow . It will be nice to have her around for a while we don't get to see her much. Its raining out today just a little shower now and then, it feels so nice and refreshing.

Fall

hello again: It has been a busy month already, getting ready to send the kids back to school, worries of what they are going to wear, and knowing that the rat race will be on soon. I'm happy to say that my daughter is nearing the end of her schooling years. Last week I made two lap quilts for our family reunion. In two weeks there will be another reunion, which I am hoping to make another quilt.

I attended an funeral today, It is really sad how we procrastenate so much and so many things, thinking that we'll get to it tomorrow, sometimes tomorrow never comes. I coppied this saying off of the program it was very inspiring to me.

Life is short,

Break the rules,

Forgive quickly,

Kiss slowly, Love truly,

Laugh uncontrollaby,

And never regret

Anything that made

You smile!

Cathedral Window

This is a picture my friends son created, he has shown me some of his most unique art work. He is very good at his detailing work. This is called paper cutting.
.I wanted to make a wall hanging for my friend, with this picture . This is how it turned out.
When you hold the picture up, with the light behind it. It looks as thought it is a real stained glass window.
